Solid Waste

On July 5, 2012, the Town of Vanceboro contracted with Waste Industries to provide curbside garbage collection.  

-A 95 Gallon Roll-out Container - is provided to each resident. 

-Collection Day – This day is Fridays.  To ensure pick up, set out your containers no later than 6 a.m.  Be sure to pull them back to your house by the next day.

-Yard Waste - leaves, grass clippings, shrub clippings - must be bagged and set out at the curb.  Please don't mix trash with yard waste.

-Bulky Items – furniture & appliances – NOT okay.  These items will not be picked up.  You can dispose of these items for free at the convenience center on Bailey Lane.  Days & Hours of operation for Craven's convenience centers can be found at http://www.cravencounty.com/departments/cln/convenience.cfm.

Q.        What are the rules for setting out trash for curbside collection?

A.         Residents are encouraged to set out their trash in trash container by 6 a.m. on Friday and at the end of the day, please pull the container back to your house.

Q.        Do I have to bag my trash?

A.         We strongly recommend all trash be bagged before putting it in the cart.  This will ensure a clean cart, with no “build-up” and less odors.

Q.        Who do I call when my trash doesn’t get picked up?

A.         Town Hall at 244-0919.

Q.        May I have another 95 gallon roll cart?

A.         You may for an additional charge.  You would need to call Town Hall at 244-0919 for assistance.

Yard Waste

Yard waste that is generated by the property owner is to be placed at curbside and no one piece should weigh more than 50 pounds.  Yard waste is collected on an as needed basis.  If you have yard waste, you may call Town Hall at 244-0919 to ensure prompt collection.

Recyclables

Craven County offers recyclable collection in our area one Thursday a month.  To receive a recycling bin or for more information you may contact Craven County Solid Waste at 636-6659 or visit them on the web at www.cravencountync.gov.
